Casita The Son Of Man
This Barrel Aged Barley Wine is a blend of a ryewine aged 17 months in Willet Rye Whiskey barrels and a Dark Strong Ale aged 13 months in Apple Brandy barrels. A touch of cinnamon was added to the whole.
Barley Wine
Barley Wine is often hearty beer with an alcohol percentage of 10% or more. The color ranges from amber to dark brown. Barley Wines are often light creamy and malty in flavor with notes of cookie, caramel, nuts and/or dried fruit. Carbonation is relatively low and the high alcohol content often results in little foam. Barley wine is very suitable for aging if stored under the right conditions.
Barrel Aged
Barrel aged means that the beer in question has been put into used or unused wooden barrels to age for an extended period of time. The barrels were previously mostly used to age spirits. The aromas and flavors of the spirits and wood will soak into the beer, creating complex flavor palettes. Examples of spirit drinks commonly used are: Whiskey, Bourbon, Congac, Tequila but wines and port are also frequently used to age beer. Sometimes unused barrels are also used to get the wood tones of the barrel into the beer in particular. Oak is a well-known example of this.
Casita Brewing Company
At Casita Brewing Company, they believe their goal is to create community connections and a wide range of beers. The logo for Casita is a letter “C” in the shape of a cottage. The “C” stands for Casita, of course, but the “C” represents not only the brand, but also many of our favorite words that begin with “C.
